Cryotherapy removes unsightly skin lesions in a matter of seconds. The device uses a very precise jet of highly compressed liquefied carbon dioxide (CO2) to destroy benign lesions, such as warts, skin tags, and age spots. Cryotherapy freezes the lesion’s inter-cellular fluid, forming ice crystals, which subsequently rupture the cell membrane, destroying the cell.
The high precision applicator tips allow for a very targeted treatment, ensuring that only the lesion is being treated, and not the healthy tissue around it. This helps to greatly reduce the risk of post-treatment hypo-pigmentation, and makes Cryotherapy safe for all areas of the face and body, even near the eyes.
Persons with the following skin lesions:
- Skin Tag: Small, stalk-like lesions without thickening at the base. Skin is brown or colored with slightly wrinkled surfaces.
- Sun Spot (Actinic Keratosis): Poorly circumscribed, pink to red slightly scaly indication usually found on sun exposed areas of the face, head, neck and back of hands/arms.
- Age Spot (Solar Lentigo) or Liver Spot: Sharply circumscribed, non scaling, uniform brown color often found on sun exposed areas of the face and back of hands.
What should I expect?
During the inflammatory stage, redness and slight erythema will be present the first day. The procedure area will darken starting the second day after the procedure and continue until the fifth day. At day five through day ten, the dark area will start to slough off. Around the tenth day through the fourteenth day, pink healthy skin replaces the dark area.
